Shannen Doherty, ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ and ‘Charmed’ Star, Dies at 53

Shannen Doherty, known for her roles in the hit series “Beverly Hills, 90210” and the witch drama “Charmed,” died after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She was 53.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of battling the disease,” ‘ Doherty’s publicist Leslie Sloane said in a statement to People.

Doherty rose to fame in 1990 as fresh-faced brunette Brenda Walsh on Fox’s “Beverly Hills, 90210”. In 2006, she launched a reality show, “Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty,” where she helped people in troubled relationships who wanted out but couldn’t do it themselves, and later appeared on another reality show, “Off the Map with Shannen and Holly.”

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2015, and in 2017 she said she was in remission. But in 2019 the cancer had returned and spread.
